These are the best resorts
in Roatán

Roatán may be a small little island, but it definitely packs a punch. There are countless resorts dotted around the shorelines and within the jungle interior that are perfect to fulfil your dream of a tropical escape. One of those charming jewels of the Caribbean, it’s like something out of Robinson Crusoe – although with none of the danger of being stranded on a desert island, of course.

Having become popular due to its location on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, tonnes of scuba divers and snorkelers have descended on the island, meaning the tourism industry has boomed – and so has the number and quality of hotels and resorts. Basically, this means you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding where you want to stay on your little trip to the little country – which is never a bad thing when you’re going away, to be fair.

Take a look at some of our favourite resorts, split into handy categories, and start getting excited about your trip.

All-inclusive

Mayan Princess Beach & Dive Resort

One of the best resorts in Roatán, Mayan Princess Beach and Dive Resort is steps away from the beach and features a 77-metre-long outdoor pool and hot tub for up to 8 people. There’s also a 24-hour front desk, airport shuttle buses, on-site restaurants, a barbershop, a spa centre – need I go on?

La Ensenada Beach Resort & Convention Centre

Quite literally your home away from home – with everything included, you won’t need to leave the resort once on your trip. Although we do recommend you do because Roatán is beautiful. The resort is right on the beach, with plenty of fun activities ready and waiting right on site – such as beach and pool volleyball, basketball and football courts, mini-golf, kayaking and more.

Paya Bay Resort

A truly exotic, Caribbean resort, Paya Bay sits on a peninsula, lending itself to almost a private retreat, with a surrounding landscape filled with outlooks and private cove beaches. The most interesting thing about this resort? It’s situated on Roatán’s topless and naturist beach.

Hotel Henry Morgan

The flagship hotel of the HM Resorts group, Hotel Henry Morgan is made up of semi-detached cabins and rooms, all separated from the lobby and main buildings in order to ensure maximum relaxation and privacy. The resort’s pool can be found right in between the hotel and the white sands of West Bay Beach.

Family

Infinity Bay Resort

This eco-friendly property is perfect for families, with a fantastic blend of incredible accommodation, fine dining, and the beach right on your doorstep. With a narrow lap pool great for people with young children, white sandy beaches, and a freshwater pool with three waterfalls and an infinity edge, you’ll never want to leave.

Reef House Resort

This small family-owned resort is great because it crafts an individual perfect experience for every single one of their guests. It’s also great for families, thanks to the quiet, rustic accommodations found on the uncrowded beach, and there are babysitting services and children’s activities to keep the little ones entertained.

Anthony’s Key Resort

One of Roatán’s best dive resorts, Anthony’s Key is also fantastic for families. It’s made up of 56 different bungalows that are tucked into the hills of the main island – providing stunning tropical views. Guests get the chance to try snorkelling, diving, kayaking, and also experience the only dolphin encounter programme on Roatán, which includes dolphin training and feeding sessions.

Half Moon Resort

Located smack bang in the middle of Half Moon Bay at the West End of the island, Half Moon Resort is perfect for travellers of any age. Right next to the reef, guests can enjoy a number of different, water-based activities: glimpse the underwater world through a glass-bottomed boat, or dip your toes in the water and go snorkelling with the fish. There’s also a one-of-a-kind deep-diving submersible, which is the first in history to be constructed of three different sized spheres and will take up to three people 3000 feet below sea level.

Media Luna Resort & Spa

Just a 20-minute drive from the airport is the Media Luna Resort and Spa, a fantastic hotel located right on the beach. It comes with its own private beach area, an outdoor swimming pool, and some of the rooms come with a balcony and garden views. The resort is ideally placed for snorkelling, diving, and kayaking, but it’s also a great place to just sit back and relax on the sand. The villas and studios have been designed to remind you of the Caribbean, with blues of the sea and rich sunset colours – all tucked among the tropical gardens underneath picturesque palm trees.

Caribe Tesoro

Caribe Tesoro is basically a mansion, right on the water’s edge. Here, you get to relax in the sun or under the shade of the palm trees dotted around and cool off with a dip in the ocean water pool. Swim-up to the bars to enjoy a number of famed cocktails, and marvel at the sunset on the pier as you eat your dinner.
